Our AMBA-accredited Executive MBA programme is designed for experienced managers and leaders, keen to make a positive contribution to the constantly changing, complex and challenging business environment in which we live. Delivered at our new £75 million teaching and research headquarters in the heart of Manchester, this executive programme enables you to develop your portfolio of leadership skills and competencies, through the practical application of frameworks, business models and theories derived from academic literature.
The Executive MBA is a non-residential, part-time programme and offers two study routes:
All students, irrespective of their chosen route share lectures, enriching the experience with a broad range of professionals from diverse industries.
The taught units in stage one cover the key management disciplines of marketing, finance, operations management, human resources and the international environment. In stage two strategy formulation, implementation and the management of innovation, all critical elements of successful leadership, are explored. You will also be able to choose from a selection of electives, allowing the opportunity to focus on a specialism of particular interest. Work-related assignments and projects support the application of your learning to real-life business situations, making an immediate impact on your organisation from the outset and throughout the programme. The interactive nature of the sessions encourages lively classroom exchange amongst the students, whose diverse backgrounds and perspectives, industries and sectors, add further dimensions of richness and complexity to the programme.
The third stage of the programme offers three options: a consultancy project; an enterprise project or an academic dissertation. This is a major piece of work which connects your learning on the academic programme to the context of your personal work environment in a significant way.
A series of activities is embedded throughout the programme, including residential weekends, an international study trip and various workshops, seminars, commercial visits and guest speakers. These are designed to enhance your competitive edge. This is achieved in two main ways: firstly by developing your analytical skills in evaluating the environment in which you work and secondly by enhancing your leadership style through greater self-awareness.
