This focuses on supply chain research to establish the presence of the Supply Chain Management Knowledge Cluster within the Knowledge Hub. The idea is to attract external speakers from practice and academia facilitating a day event of high quality discussion to set an agenda for the cluster members to be involved and externally focused.
Bringing together a number of keynote discussions, a suggested programme includes:
Introduction to the event followed by Ethical Supply Chain Initiatives, with speakers from: Ethical Trading Initiative, Fair Trade, Coop, and Labour behind the Label.
Energy Efficient Supply Chains, with speakers from an energy consultancy, a packaging technology group and green politics.
Specific industry context discussions around fashion, food, aerospace, health and education.
Specific industry context discussions around logistics (trucking), trains, boats and aeroplanes.
Drawing conclusions from the day, next steps and wrap up
The plan is to have discrete sessions within the day focused on these themes. An output from the day would be to identify possible research agendas that could be followed up by the cluster afterwards. Developing and maintaining relationships for research support, partnerships etc.
