Dr Marilena Antoniadou presenting her talk.
This Festival of Knowledge event from the Work Psychology Knowledge Cluster brought together staff from across the university who were interested in exploring how to have fun in the workplace. The participants took part in activities which illustrated how fun can be used to improve performance.
The making of paper aeroplanes got quite competitive as each team tried to outdo the others! Accompanied by cakes, we also learnt about the ‘serious’ side of fun, considering how creating fun workplaces can attract people to the organisation and improve productivity and creativity.
The audience began to see the value and benefits of workplace fun in relation to their mental health, well-being and relationships with colleagues and managers. Tips on fun activities that can be embedded in any workplace, as well as examples from other companies that have built their strategy on workplace fun, were also amongst the things that the audience gained.
All in all, a great addition to our work day. Please download our presentation slides for some useful tips to take away and introduce a bit of fun to your work.
