Employability Skills and Assessment:
Does our assessment practice reflect our ambition to be the University for World Class Professionals?
Manchester Metropolitan Business School has organised a one day conference on Employability and Assessment. The aim of the conference is to examine practice in the use of assessment as a way to further develop the professional, academic and personal skills of our students, in order to enhance their experience as learners and their employability as graduates.
The day has two parts to it. The morning will identify the teaching and learning issues raised by presentations from employers, students, tutors and the afternoon will use roundtable discussions to allow participants to develop and explore the issues.
The conference is about students and their potential employability and will actively involve them in the development process by inviting them to participate in roundtable discussions in key areas.

What do we hope to achieve?
- Documentation of a range of ways to develop professional and transferable skills further
- Develop new and invigorated approaches to embedding employability in the curriculum
- Checklists for course development activities to allow the development team to ensure they are considering the right things when designing new programmes.
