FOR graduate job-seekers preparation is everything.
And there's no better preparation than a work placement while studying for your degree, as two business graduates found on their way to their dream jobs on Wall Street!
Oliver Davis and Daria Dimitriu are jetting off to New York to work as business analysts for JP Morgan Chase, a leading global financial services firm.
The pair landed internships with the investment giant after excelling on their year-long placement while studying on the BSc (Hons) Business Information Technology at Aytoun.
They move to New York next week after being accepted onto the Mountbatten Institute Internship Program in America due to their "outstanding promise" within the industry.
Oliver, 24, said: "I thought it would be especially hard for me to find a job with the financial world being in meltdown.
"I'm certain I got the job thanks to the experience I got on my industrial placement. A good degree is a pre-requisite so I needed something else to stand out from the crowd and the industrial placement did that for me."
Both students were encouraged to complete year-long placements as part of their course at MMU, allowing them to stand out above the other applicants.
Oliver worked for the company ClaimBase as a web developer in his placement year, where he was offered a full-time job.
Daria, 24, from Manchester, who gained first-class honours also impressed during her year out.
Head of Careers at MMU Jan Moore, said: "Despite a recent fall in graduate jobs due to the recession, Oliver and Daria are proof that top jobs are still out there for the best prepared."
