A GRADUATE of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses course at MMU Business School is named among the cream of North West's younger business leaders.
Oliver Caunt, managing director of Bury-based John Caunt Scientific, which designs and supplies radiation detection equipment is included in the 42 under 42 list for 2012 complied by leading regional business magazine Insider.
All entrants on the list are under 42 years of age and involved in businesses in the region, either as owner-managers or working high up in large organisations. It is their skills and aspirations which have made them stand out and be included in the 2012 countdown.
Oliver successfully applied for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme in 2011 which he described as “helping take the business to the next level.”
The ‘high-growth’ programme of support is targeted as small and medium businesses with the drive and potential to grow and create jobs.
Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is the scheme’s supplier in the North West and offers selected firms like Caunt’s:
Oliver says: “The course at MMU allowed us to take the time to reflect on where the business was going and to implement a refreshed strategy. We are projecting a renewed growth and as the results of the course filter back through the company, we are all feeling more empowered to push forward!
The course makes your business its subject matter
“One of the drivers of this course is to gel a group of business leaders together who are going to help and support each other. The formation of a peer-led network underpins everything.
“This was a very academic course but it is made more practical as the subject matter is your business. The focus was on key business functions, hearing from academics, industry leaders and fellow attendees.”
The full 42 under 42 list can be seen in October's edition of North West Business Insider. The 2012 North West 42 under 42 Dinner takes place on 15 October 2012 at the Lowry Hotel, in Manchester.
