AS MORE and more people attend University, a Masters degree is becoming increasingly valued by employers as giving a candidate the edge.
MMU is offering a new selection of rigorous and relevant higher degrees in growth business areas.
The new Masters in Place Management* is the first of its kind in the UK and fills a need for town centre managers, retail strategists and regeneration leaders.
The course is run in tandem with the Association of Town Centre Management and accredited by the Institute for Place Management www.placemanagement.org
Other new courses are:
- Masters in Digital Marketing Communications, in partnership with e-Consultancy and McCann-Erickson.
- Masters in Project Management
- Masters in Leadership and Change Management
A fifth course – the Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain – has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and successful candidates can be exempted from the academic requirements for Chartered Membership to CILT.
Nick Backhouse, managing partner of McCann-Erickson, who help deliver the Masters in Digital Marketing, said: "Currently there is a shortage of people with these skills especially where digital is being integrated into a multi-channel situation.
Dean of MMU Business School Huw Morris said: "A postgraduate qualification is a major investment but is increasingly recognised as giving graduates the edge in the job market.
"There are lots of postgraduate qualifications about, but at MMUBS we are selecting programmes based on an intimate relationship with business and business recruitment."
*The School is also running a new part-time Introductory Diploma in Place Management aimed at people working in the field.
