Centre for Business in Society(CBS) develops internationally excellent research that supports the development, transition and resilience of business and society. CBS has a strong external focus and its research impacts on individuals, organisations, policy-makers and the wider economy. It also supports the Faculty’s research-informed curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
CBS provides a hub which co-ordinates the collaborative strengths of five synergistic research centres studying people and performance, international business and innovation, enterprise with a particular focus on SMEs, policy modelling and retail, place and consumer change. A unique feature of the CBS’s work is its Knowledge Hub. This houses a number of subject clusters that bring together academic staff, students and ‘real world’ partners to make sense of the key challenges facing contemporary business and society.
CBS is also home to the Faculty’s Graduate School for Business and Law. This is a thriving community of doctoral researchers exploring emerging issues of importance to business and society.
MANCHESTER Metropolitan University has risen significantly in the UK research rankings with more than 200 researchers rated ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
